PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic backup function in relatively simple configurations. SOLUTION: This backup device 2 is provided with a backup controller 21, and the operating condition of a CPU 11 is monitored from the condition of a power source and the condition of a signal on a bus or the like, and when the power source of a CPU 11 is turned off, or when the CPU 11 is turned into a non-operating condition that a storage device such as an HDD is not accessed, the bus control right of a storage device 12a or 12b controlled by the CPU 11 is acquired, and the contents of the storage device 12a or 12b are file-copied to a storage device 3 for backup installed in the backup device 2. Also, when the CPU 11 is turned into an operating condition, the bus control right is returned to the CPU, and when the CPU 11 is turned into a non-operating condition again, the backup is resumed.
