PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a specific 2,2-dialkyl-epoxide in high purity and in high yield. SOLUTION: The method for producing the high-purity 2,2-dialkyl-epoxide represented by general formula (II) comprises dimerizing anα-olefin represented by general formula: H<SB>2</SB>C=CH-(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>-CH<SB>3</SB>(n is an integer of 5-29) by using (i) a metallocene complex containing a group 4-6 transition metal in the periodic table, and (ii) a catalyst comprising (ii-1) a compound comprising a cation and an anion in which two or more groups bond to an element, and (ii-2) at least one kind selected from an organoaluminium compounds to afford a vinylidene olefin represented by general formula (I), and epoxidizing the vinylidene olefin with a peroxide.
