POLYMER GEL CONTAINING BIOCOMPATIBLE MATERIAL, DRY GEL, AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING POLYMER GEL

A polymer gel obtained by a process which comprises immersing a polymer gel comprising a polymer of a water-soluble organic monomer and a water-swellable clay mineral alternately in an aqueous alkali metal phosphate solution and in an aqueous calcium salt solution at least once to thereby form a hydroxyapatite in the polymer hydrogel. The polymer gel contains a biocompatible material finely dispersed therein, is excellent in mechanical properties and stability, and can efficiently exhibit properties of the biocompatible material. Also provided is a dry polymer gel containing a biocompatible material. It is obtained by drying the polymer gel.
