<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method of rapidly inspecting a soiling or blurring on the printing surface, as well as the variation of concentration and color. <P>SOLUTION: The reference binarized images of each color in a quality paper state and the binarized images at inspection are developed in a memory to set up areas and positions for judging the soiling or blurring and also areas for judging excessive concentration/under-concentration. Based on the above area and position, the binarized image at inspection is compared with the reference binarized image on the memory, and if there is a portion in which the former does not coincide with the latter, it is judged that the soiling or blurring exists. Further, the limit value of difference between the reference value of multi-value data of each pixel and the value at inspection is set up to compare the former with the latter in each pixel, and when the area of a portion exceeding the difference limit value exceeds the set value, it is judged to be excessive concentration and/or under-concentration. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
