PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: low efficiency is caused until a direction is changed since natural kinetic energy gives energy at a different angle from the direction in stopping a turbine, and low torque is caused because high priority is given to high-speed rotation in starting. SOLUTION: A vertical shaft type turbine, which is mounted on a front and a rear sections of a horizontal shaft type turbine sharing a rotating shaft, serves as a direction control device. High-torque performance, which is a feature of vertical shaft type turbine mainly moved by drag, enhances the performance of the horizontal shaft type turbine. The vertical shaft type turbine rotates in starting, and the horizontal shaft type turbine rotates during high-speed running, thus improving startability and efficiency.
