PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slave medium for magnetic transfer, capable of improving the signal quality by providing sufficient contact with the master carrier for magnetic transfer to reduce signal omission during the magnetic transfer, and facilitating peeling from the master carrier in close contact. SOLUTION: The slave medium 2 initially magnetized in one direction beforehand is brought into close contact with a master carrier having a pattern corresponding to the information to be transferred, and used for a magnetic transfer method for applying the transfer magnetic field in a direction opposite the initial magnetization. The slave medium 2 is provided with a substrate layer 22 made of a radioactive cured resin having an alicyclic annular structure and two or more radioactive cured functional group in one molecule on a support 21. A substantially nonmagnetic substrate layer 23, and a magnetic layer 24 formed by dispersing ferromagnetic metal powders or hexagonal ferrite fine powders are sequentially disposed thereon. The surface of the magnetic layer 24 has characteristics in which the number of projections of 100nm or more in height measured by an atom force microscope is 5 or less per magnetic layer surface 100μm<SP>2</SP>, and the number of projections of 20nm or more in height is 5 to 100 per magnetic layer surface 100μm<SP>2</SP>.
