PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas detection system capable of continuously monitoring the state of environmental atmosphere in a monitoring area and a mobile gas detector used for this gas detection system. SOLUTION: This gas detection system comprises a mobile gas detector including a gas detection part, an arithmetic processing part, and a communicating function part; and a receiving management part for receiving gas detection data obtained from the mobile gas detector, and characterized by that the gas detection data are automatically transmitted to the receiving management part according to a transmission period set by a reporting program. This mobile gas detector is a mobile gas detector including a gas detection part, an arithmetic processing part, and a communicating function part, and characterized by that gas detection data generated based on a gas detection result are transmitted through the communicating function part according to a transmission period set by a reporting program.
