PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure safety of workers, and to facilitate the maintenance work when checking and preparing parts provided at positions in rear of a working attachment installation part. SOLUTION: In a construction machine provided with a working attachment installation part 13 at a nearly central position in the right and the left of an upper turning body 12, a step 23 is fitted in a space surrounded by a right and a left web plates 20 and 20 and a front plate 21 and a house 16 for shielding the engine 16 at a position lower than the top surface of the house 16.
