PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a counterweight capable of cost reduction while improving accuracy in mounting to a vehicle body frame by accurately forming a mounting part to the vehicle body frame. SOLUTION: This counterweight has a base part 1 made of cast iron, having the mounting part for mounting to the vehicle body frame, and a weight part made of a slab material, having a block body formed of a slab material. The weight part 2 made of the slab material is mounted on the base part 1. The outer surface of the weight part 2 made of the slab material is covered with a covering plate 30. A connecting plate 7 is mounted to the base part 1. The lower edge part of the covering plate 30 is jointed to the base part 1 through the connecting plate 7, and the upper edge part of the covering plate 30 is jointed to the upper part of the weight part 2 made of the slab material. Since the base part 1 is mounted to the vehicle body frame, the counterweight can be easily and accurately formed at a low cost. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
