PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating for forming a gas barrier layer, capable of giving a gas barrier laminated material not containing chlorine in its structure and having an excellent oxygen barrier properties at high humidity, under a milder condition than ever. SOLUTION: This coating for forming the gas barrier layer contains at least one kind of hydroxy radical-containing polymer (A) selected from a polymer (A1) which contains hydroxy radicals and does not contain carboxy radicals nor epoxy radicals and another polymer (A2) which contains the hydroxy radicals and the epoxy radicals and does not contain the carboxy radicals, and further contains the other polymer (B) which is obtained by polymerizing a monomer (b1) having a carboxy radical or an acid anhydride radical and an etyhylenic unsaturated double bond and therefore contains the carboxy radicals or the acid anhydride radicals and does not contain the hydroxy radical.
