<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make both the optical axis of an optical component and the optical axis of a lens coincide with each other. <P>SOLUTION: This optical module comprises a wiring board 30 including a base board 32 and a wiring pattern 34 formed on the base board 32, an optical chip 10 including the optical component 12 and an electrode 24 for electrically connecting the optical component 12 and the wiring pattern 34, and a substrate 40 holding the lens 42 that converges light beams on the optical component 12.
