PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for designing a hypoid gear capable of effectively improving power transmission efficiency. SOLUTION: Basic specifications of the hypoid gear 1 are determined using the Gleason program. Offset quantity E (basic specification) of a pinion gear 3 to a ring gear 2 is corrected in such a way as to minimize a gear trace direction slip ratio of the pinion gear 3 to the ring gear 2 and a tooth shape direction slip ratio of the pinion gear 3 to the ring gear 2.
