PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thread traversing device that does not generate a wear groove in a rubber roller of a thread delivery roller. SOLUTION: In a spinning machine in which a plurality of spinning units are disposed in parallel in the longitudinal direction of a machine base, the long-sized traversing device for simultaneously performing traverse of spun thread delivered from each spinning machine has a traverse guide that is positioned on the upstream side or downstream side of the thread delivery roller and reciprocates in the axial direction of the thread delivery roller by a predetermined traverse width. The traversing device sharply varies the reciprocating speed of the traverse guide reciprocating while guiding the running thread at both ends and central part of the traverse width.
