PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for efficiently discharging dross floating in a hot-dip plating bath and separating and recovering plated metal. SOLUTION: A hollow barrel serving as a dross-housing frame (10) is installed so that its lower part is soaked in the plating bath and its upper part sticks out from the plating bath surface. The dross (6) is pumped up from the plating bath surface, taken into the dross-housing frame (10) and left for a certain time as a dross-deposited layer (6<SB>0</SB>). If required, the upper surface of the dross-deposited layer (6<SB>0</SB>) is heated to keep a fluidized state. The plated metal in the dross-deposited layer (6<SB>0</SB>) is precipitated due to the difference of specific gravity between the plated metal and the dross and is directly refluxed to the plating bath (2).
