PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ultraviolet absorber which is in the form of separate particles, is substantially free from dusting and is excellent in color tone. SOLUTION: This ultraviolet absorber comprises separate particulate crystals of a compound represented by formula (I), in which the particles having a diameter of 50-500μm account for at least 80 wt.%, preferably at least 85 wt.%, more preferably at least 90 wt.%, and whose angles of repose are preferably 30°or smaller, more preferably 25°or smaller.
