Network based information system for management and actualization of data objects, e.g. linked document files, employs an external central network unit with at least one server (1). At least one internal network and internal server (12) with one or more workstations (9) connects to the central server for information exchange. Organization-specific as well as general data objects that are linked, e.g. via hyperlinks, are stored in the central server which has means (4) for updating and renewing at least the general objects as well as their links between each other. An independent claim is made for a method for managing and actualizing data objects within an organization.
