The spray appliance has an adjustable nozzle needle (2), and feed units (4) for a propellant and a coating medium. The nozzle needle seals the discharge nozzle (3) when in one end position, and is turnable about its longitudinal direction when in that position. It may be turned to the left or to the right by an explosion-proof engine (11). A coupling (13,14) is located between engine and needle.
