<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a driver to instinctively and precisely observe peripheral circumstances of an obstacle on a monitor screen for reducing a burden of the driver. <P>SOLUTION: The periphery of the vehicle is photographed by an on-vehicle camera, the obstacle existing around the vehicle is detected by an obstacle detection means, a virtual object 73 composite image is created in a road face boundary position 72 of the obstacle image to a photographed image taken by the on-vehicle camera when the obstacle is detected, and the composite image is displayed on the monitor screen.
