PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting an error in executing a program which prevents determining a user's operation error as a program execution error while not requiring a complex program configuration. SOLUTION: The method for detecting errors in executing a program in a system achieving a desired function based on the process of a predetermined program includes detecting the operation pattern of an input operation means of the system; determining if an error has occurred in executing the program according to the degree of discrepancy between the operation pattern and an assumed normal pattern; referring to information on the time elapsed since reference time about the start of using the program; and, if the elapsed time information does not reach a predetermined value, either transitionally invalidating the result of determination on the program error or preventing the process of determining program errors from being executed, thus making it possible to prevent the user's operation error from being determined as a program execution error.
