PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a whole period for inspecting a flat liquid crystal display from getting longer, while using inspection equipments being not large and preventing inspection costs from getting high, when detecting flaws and dusts on the surface of the flat liquid crystal display or flaws and dusts on a protective film being attached to the flat liquid crystal display. SOLUTION: The flaws and dusts on the surface of the flat liquid crystal display or the flaws and dusts on the protective film being attached to the flat liquid are detected by setting a quadrature polarizing filter in front of a CCD camera lens and retreating a parallel polarizing filter from the CCD camera lens, and defects of a displaying element in the flat liquid crystal display are detected by retreating the quadrature polarizing filter from the CCD camera lens and setting the parallel polarizing filter in front of the CCD camera lens.
