Slave circuit (1) has: a data transfer interface (2) for processing data frames; an address register (10) for storing an address; a comparator (13) for comparison of an address stored in the address register with an address in a data frame within the data transfer interface and; a display register (16) that indicates initializing of the slave circuit if the address is the same as a predefined initializing address for the slave circuit. An independent claim is made for a method for initializing a slave circuit that its connected to a master circuit in a ring network structure.
