PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent display device of which the yield in manufacturing is improved. SOLUTION: A hole injection electrode 9 is formed for each picture element on a flattened layer 7 of a TFT substrate 8, and an organic layer 10 extending in the Y direction in stripe shape is formed on the hole injecting electrode 9. An insulating picture element separation membrane 11 which extends in the Y direction in a stripe shape is formed on the flattened layer 7 between organic layers 10 of each picture element. Both side faces of the picture element separation membrane 11 are tilted in a tapered form. An electron injecting electrode 12 made of a transparent conductive membrane extending in the X direction in a stripe shape is formed on the organic layer 10 and the picture element separation membrane 11. The tapering angleθof the picture element separation membrane, the membrane thickness d of the electron injecting electrode 12, and the bond energy V<SB>be</SB>of the metal constituting the electron injecting electrode 12 are established to satisfy -4.8V<SB>be</SB>+99≤dcosθ≤d.
