PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent erosion on the medium slide-contact surface of a magnetoresistive effect magnetic head which travels in slide-contact on a magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: An antirust film 50 mainly containing aromatic alcohol is formed on the medium slide-contact surface 20a of a GMR head 20 for detecting a magnetic signal in slide-contact with a magnetic tape 3. A top coat layer 64 and a backcoat layer 65 made of materials similar to that of the antirust film 50 formed on the medium slide-contact surface 20a of the GMR head 20 are formed on the surface of the magnetic tape 3, and the antirust film is transferred to the medium slide-contact surface 20a of the GMR head 20 to be brought into slide-contact with the magnetic tape 3.
