PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high frequency amplifier that satisfies both a noise figure and an input VSWR (voltage standing wave ratio) without introducing a drastic increase in cost, size and power consumption, and a receiver that uses the high frequency amplifier. SOLUTION: This high frequency amplifier 1 is provided with a first input matching circuit 21 for noise matching, a second input matching circuit 22 for gain matching, a FET 3, and an output matching circuit 5. The input matching circuits 21 and 22 are electrically connected to a gate terminal of the FET 3. An isolator 6 is arranged at the previous stage side of the first input matching circuit 21. When the frequency domain of a high frequency input signal is on a high-pass side that is≥4GHz, the high frequency input signal is supplied to the isolator 6 and the first input matching circuit 21, and when the frequency domain is on a low-pass side that is less than 4GHz, a switching circuit 8 for supplying the high frequency input signal to the second input matching circuit 22 is constructed.
