PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus which does not require excessive communication expenses because the apparatus does not occupy a line uselessly when a user is not at home in the communication apparatus capable of communication corresponding to an ITU-T recommendation V.92. SOLUTION: This communication apparatus is capable of communication that corresponds to the ITU-T recommendation V.92 and has an incoming mode selecting means for selecting an incoming mode and a modem-on-hold performance control means for controlling the performance of modem-on-hold.
