PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insulator for a battery by which internal short-circuiting can be prevented and a nonaqueous electrolyte battery using the insulator for the battery. SOLUTION: By installing an insulator 3 provided with a filtering function between a bead part 17 of an exterior can 5 and a winding end surface of a battery element 2, conductive metal particles produced by bead processing which tend to enter the interior of the battery element 2 along with the nonaqueous electrolyte 4 are filtered and collected by the insulator 3.
