PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal type continuously variable transmission provided with a connection structure between a friction wheel support member and a link in which spherical surface machining can be conducted to an inner circumferential edge of a joint engagement hole provided in the link at low cost and easily. SOLUTION: Between an input and an output discs 2 and 3, a plurality of trunnions 6 to rotatably support a power roller 4 that is friction-engaged, and the links 7 and 8 having a plurality of the joint engagement holes 70 and 80 at which end parts 6a and 6b of adjoining trunnions 6 are inclinably and rotatably supported through spherical joints 14 are provided. Continuously variable transmission is achieved by generating inclined rotation of the power roller 4 as the trunnions 6 stroke toward an oscillating axial line O3 perpendicular to a rotation axial line O2 of the power roller 4 under synchronization through the links 7 and 8 in this toroidal type continuously variable transmission. Inner circumferential parts of the joint engagement holes 70 and 80 comprise link material 100 incorporated as separate bodies, with their inner circumferential edge 112 provided with spherical surface machining.
