PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily recover without requiring a special manual work when paper jamming takes place in the middle of a paper cutting process in a printer with an automatic cutter. SOLUTION: The printer 10 has a printing part 12 for printing on a continuously transferred and supplied printing paper sheet, and a cutter part 14 arranged at the downstream side in a paper feed direction of the printing part 12 and equipped with a fixed blade 20 and a movable blade 22 which cooperate to cut the printing paper sheet. The fixed blade 20 is supported by a first supporting member 24 set fixedly to position a printing action point at the printing part 12, and the movable blade 22 is supported by a second supporting member 26 arranged movably to the first supporting member 24. The fixed blade 20 and the movable blade 22 of the cutter part 14 can relatively move between a mutually adjacent position where the cooperation is possible and a mutually distant position where the cooperation is impossible.
