PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently recover coating sludge by reducing the water content of the sludge even when the amount of industrial water to be used is reduced. SOLUTION: A coating separation apparatus 1 has a first separation tank 12 for supplying industrial water for washing off a coating material precipitated on the bed plate 7 of a coating booth 4, a second separation tank 13 in which part of the industrial water to be stored in the tank 12 is circulated, and a float pump 14 for supplying the industrial water containing a large amount of the coating sludge from the tank 12 to the tank 13.
