Method for decoding a digital signal received by a digital receiver, especially one having a Trellis decoder. According to the method a multi-point decision is made using a predefined assignment function to calculate probabilities of information bits. An independent claim is made for a digital transmission receiver. The invention also relates to a corresponding computer program for implementation of the inventive method.
