The tank has a hollow metal casing (3) for storing gas under pressure with a fiber-reinforced plastic outer coating (4). The casing has an opening section (6) closed by attaching a cover (7) at complementary contact surfaces with a sealing part between the contact surfaces. Either the casing or cover has a deformable section that aligns one sealing surface with the other when deformed by pressure in the casing. An independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a method of manufacturing an inventive high-pressure tank.
