RECORDING/REPRODUCING SEPARATION-TYPE MAGNETIC HEAD, PARTICULARLY CONCERNED WITH BEING USED FOR A MAGNETIC DISK DEVICE

PURPOSE: A recording/reproducing separation-type magnetic head is provided to reduce a phenomenon in which a reproduction head element is protruded toward a rise surface owing to a thermal transformation caused by temperature changes, thereby avoiding collision between the magnetic head and a magnetic disk. CONSTITUTION: A magneto-resistance effect-type head(11) has a magneto-resistance effect film(25) between a lower shield(23) and an upper shield(28) provided on a substrate(21), and one pair of electrodes(26) electrically connected to the magneto-resistance effect film(25). An induction-type thin film magnetic head(12) has a coil(33) by interposing a magnetic gap film(32) and an interlayer insulating film(34) between a lower electrode(31) and an upper electrode(35), which are installed by depositing a separation film(29) on the upper shield(28) of the magneto-resistance effect-type head(11). A sum of a film thickness of the lower shield(23) and a film thickness of the upper shield(28) is set to be more than 0.4 micrometer and less than 3.4 micrometer.
