PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage system of a price and performance commensurate with a scale of a system from small to large configuration. SOLUTION: A storage system 1 comprises a plurality of protocol conversion parts 10 that convert a read/write protocol of data exchanged between servers 3 or a group of hard discs 2 to a protocol inside the system and a cache memory part 111 that stores data read/written between servers 3 or a group of hard discs 2, and is composed so that a plurality of cache control parts 21 that have a function to control the cache memory part 111 are interconnected by an interconnection network 31. The storage system 1 divides the plurality of cache control parts 21 into a plurality of control clusters 70, makes the cache memory part 111 be independently controlled inside the control cluster 70, and connects a system management part 60 that manages the plurality of protocol conversion parts 10 and the plurality of control clusters 70 as a single system to the interconnection network 31.
