PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader capable of performing image input under a plurality of read conditions in a single original reading operation when a single-sided original is read by effectively using an image storage means for the rear surface in the image reader by which double-sided reading is possible. SOLUTION: The image reader comprises: a first read part 101 which reads an image of the first page of the original; a first image processing part 104 which performs image processing of image data read by the reading part 101; a second read part 107 which reads an image of the second page of the original; and a second image processing part 110 which performs image data processing of image data read by the reading part 107. The image reader is further provided with: a first image memory 105 which stores the image data read by the first reading part 101; and a second image memory 111 which stores the image data read by the second reading part 107 in the double-sided reading.
