PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus advantageous on enhancement of operability as securing image quality of image data even when an attitude of a case is changed according to composition in photographing. SOLUTION: The case 12 of the imaging apparatus 10 is constituted of a first case 14 located on the right side and a second case 16 located on the left side. A lens barrel 18 is arranged on the front surface of the second case 16, a photographing optical system 20 is incorporated into the lens barrel 18 and in addition, an imaging device for detecting an object image picked up through the photographing optical system 20 and for outputting an imaging signal is incorporated into the lens barrel 18. A first photographic switch 28 is arranged at a position where it can be operated with an index finger of a right hand while a grip part 1402 is grasped with the right hand by extending the length direction of the case 12 approximately in a horizontal direction. A second photographic switch 32 is arranged at a position where it can be operated with an index finger of the right hand at a state that a middle part of the case 12 in the length direction is grasped with the right hand by extending the length direction of the case 12 approximately in a vertical direction.
