SOLUTION: This recording and reproducing device is provided with various operation buttons. When a menu button 8 is operated at a display state of a video screen 37 representing video information from a monitoring camera by a display device, a menu screen 38 is displayed, and when the navigation button 4 is operated, a search method selection screen 40 capable of selcting a search method of the video information in a hard disk device is displayed. In addition, when the sensor detects an abnormality, when the navigation button 4 is operated at the display state of the video picture 37, an alarm picture 42 by abnormality detection of the sensor or an alarm screen 43 by detection of power interruption is displayed and a stopping operation of an alarm, etc. is made possible.
