PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which can always display a desired gradation-brightness, by securely making the liquid crystal respond and reach the transmittance (target gradation-brightness) defined by an input image signal, after the passage of single-frame period of time. SOLUTION: The single-frame period of time of the input image signal is divided into a first image display period of time and a second image display period of time, and an emphasis transformation signal such that a liquid crystal display panel 5 reaches the transmittance defined by the input image signal after the passage of the first image display period of time is obtained. The emphasis transformation signal is supplied to the liquid crystal display panel 5 during the first image display period of time, and the input image signal, as it is, is supplied to the liquid crystal display panel 5, during the second image display period of time.
