PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition for cans forming a coating film having excellent adhesiveness to a metal material, retort resistance and processability and a hue of gold color. SOLUTION: The coating composition for the cans is a composition comprising an epoxy resin (A), a phenol resin (B) and a metal dryer (C). The formulation is carried out so that the amount of the phenol resin (B) is 5-50 pts. wt. based on 100 pts. wt. of the total solid content of the epoxy resin (A) and the phenol resin (B) and the amount of the metal contained in the metal dryer (C) is 0.05-2.0 pts. wt. based on 100 pts. wt. of the total solid content of the epoxy resin (A) and the phenol resin (B).
