<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type liquid crystal display having high luminance and luminance uniformity, as the reflection type liquid crystal display wherein a front light is disposed. <P>SOLUTION: In the reflection type liquid crystal display, the front light is disposed on a reflection type liquid crystal panel, the front light is provided with a light guide plate and a point-like light source provided on the end surface side of the light guide plate and a light guide rod converting emitted light from the point-like light source into line-like light toward the light guide plate is disposed at the end surface of the light guide plate. An optical path converting means to heighten the luminance of the line-like light is provided on the surface of the light guide rod opposite to the end surface of the light guide plate, light scattering particles are dispersed in the light guide rod and the surface facing the end surface of the light guide plate of the light guide rod is coated with a light semitransmission film to heighten the luminance uniformity of the line-like light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
