PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent fluctuation of the engine output torque caused by secondary fuel injection in an expansion or exhaust stroke of an engine. SOLUTION: A cylinder fuel injection valve 111 to directly inject fuel in a cylinder of an internal combustion engine is provided, and main fuel injection is performed in the cylinder intake stroke and/or the compression stroke, and secondary fuel injection not contributing to the combustion is performed in the expansion stroke or the exhaust stroke, respectively. An electronic control unit (ECU) 30 of the engine calculates the amount of remaining fuel in the cylinder by the secondary fuel injection based on the operating state of the engine, and the amount of the next main fuel injection is reduced by the amount of the remaining fuel. Therefore, even when the remaining fuel is present in the cylinder by the secondary fuel injection, the output torque is not fluctuated during the combustion at the next cycle.
