PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an optical fiber light in weight compared with a conventional one for an optical switch so as to prevent deviation by gravity, and also to realize an optical switch that can perform more reliable switching operation. SOLUTION: A clad near the end of an optical fiber is removed to expose the core and then, a lens having a condensing function for optical coupling is integrally installed at the tip end of the exposed core. Further, a ferromagnetic body is installed on the outer periphery of the exposed core, with an electromagnet arranged close to the ferromagnetic body. Then, by magnetically attracting the ferromagnetic body with an electromagnet, at least a part of the lens is displaced from the optical axis of an optical signal. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
