PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor-driven wheelchair capable of being charged during running and improved in availability factor. SOLUTION: This motor-driven wheelchair is loaded with a chargeable battery 1, an electric motor 6 receiving power from the battery 1 through an inverter 2 and rotating driving wheels 4, 5 through a rotary reduction transmission mechanism 3, and a controller 7 for controlling the inverter 2, and a hand operation part 8 of the controller 7 is provided by the side of an occupant of the motor-driven chair. An alternating current power generator 20 adapted to generate power by an engine 22 to which a starting motor is attached, and the alternating current power generator 20 and the battery 1 are connected to each other for current carrying through an AC-DC converter 23 and a diode 24 for preventing a current backflow from the battery to the AC-DC converter 23.
