PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an overall length and the number of parts in the manufacture of a six or seven speed transmission of a type having two clutches (K1 and K2) having the input side coupled to a prime mover driving shaft 2 and the output side coupled coaxially to two transmission input shafts 3 and 4 coaxially, having an idle gear supported on two countershafts (5 and 6) and having a fixed gear installed on a transmission input shaft in constant mesh with the idle gear, in which rotation of the idle gear with respect to the countershaft is inhibited by a coupling device installed on the countershaft and output gears 18 and 19 installed on the countershaft are meshed with teeth 20 of a differential device 21. SOLUTION: The two fixed gears (13 and 14) are installed on one transmission input shaft (3), at least one other fixed gear (12) is installed on the other transmission input shaft (4), and one fixed gear plays a role of driving the two idle gears, that is, the idle gear on the first countershaft 5 and the idle gear on the second countershaft 6.
