摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the output sensitivity range by lowering the internal resistance of a detection element, to stabilize the characteristic of a pump current, and to heighten the detection accuracy of an air/fuel ratio. <P>SOLUTION: An air/fuel ratio detection element 21 is constituted of a rod-shaped heater part 22, a gas diffusion layer 26 provided by being laminated on its outer peripheral side, a solid electrolyte layer 27, an outside measuring electrode 29 sandwiching the solid electrolyte layer 27 between itself and an inside electrode 28, a reference electrode 30, and a dense layer 32 provided on the outer peripheral side of the heater part 22 so as to cover the reference electrode 30 from the outside. A wide-width electrode part 28A and a narrow-width electrode part 28B separated in the axial direction and conducted mutually electrically are formed on the inside electrode 28 provided between the gas diffusion layer 26 and the solid electrolyte layer 27. The wide-width electrode part 28A is arranged oppositely to the outside measuring electrode 29 across the solid electrolyte layer 27, and the narrow-width electrode part 28B is arranged oppositely to the reference electrode 30. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
