PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass substrate for use in magnetic disk that enables obtaining of high magnetic anisotropy and attain high recording density, even when a glass substrate is used as the magnetic disk substrate. SOLUTION: The main surface of glass disk is mirror polished, and then chemical treatment is carried out for the glass disk so as to remove sharpening degeneracy layers on the main surface of the glass disk. After that, a texture is formed on the main surface of the glass using tape, and finally a glass substrate 1 for use in magnetic disk is obtained. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
