摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain/eliminate knocking without impairing an output characteristic by using hydrogen or hydrogen-rich gas in a spark ignition type internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: A control unit 40 determines a hydrogen heat quantity rate R<SB>H2</SB>according to an engine speed detected by a crank angle position sensor 52 when detecting the knocking by a knocking sensor 50. The control unit 40 determines a hydrogen supply quantity and a gasoline supply quantity by using the determined hydrogen heat quantity rate R<SB>H2</SB>, and injects gasoline of quantity determined from a fuel injection valve IJ into an intake port 16. The control unit 40 directly injects hydrogen of quantity determined from a hydrogen injection valve HIJ into a cylinder 11 at a compression stroke after closing an intake valve 161.
