PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the frequency of cleaning work by reducing the accumulation of dust in a gas exhaust pipe. SOLUTION: In this external heat rotary kiln, an untreated material M is supplied into a rotating retort 2 and the retort 2 is heated by the combustion of flammable gas generated from the untreated material M while being exhausted through the gas exhaust pipe 3 passing through the wall of the retort 2 to an external heat chamber on the outer periphery of the retort 2. The diameter of an outlet 33 of the gas exhaust pipe 3 is gradually enlarged outward in increments of a preset curvature of radius. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
