CARDIAC GLYCOSIDE RESISTANT NON-IMMUNOGENIC SELECTION MARKER

A recombinant Na<+>, K<+>-ATPase alpha1-subunit protein resistant to cardiac glycosides, e.g. oubain, is disclosed, as well as methods for its production and use. The resistance to cardiac glycosides are obtained by alterations in the region situated between and including the amino acids 65-133. Such recombinant protein and nucleic acid constructs expressing the same are useful as selection markers in gene therapy and research applications.
