INDOOR POSITIONING OF MOBILE TERMINALS

A method and a system for locating mobile terminals in an indoor communications environment are described. The system includes a plurality of distributed antennas 26 that are grouped into two or more antenna subsets I, II, III which are covering different geographical indoor sectors. To each antenna subset an identification parameter I, II, III is assigned that denotes the sector covered by a particular antenna subset. A network node 28 is coupled to the distributed antennas 26 via a common signal path 30. The network node 28 includes a receiver component 34 for receiving via the common signal path 30 a signal including identification information relating to the identification parameter that is assigned to the antenna subset that has received the signal. The network node 28 further comprises a locator component for locating the mobile terminal on the basis of the identification information included in the signal.
