PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing two color rotating particles by which the two color rotating particles with uniform particle diameters of 100μm or smaller are manufactured simply and in a high yield. SOLUTION: In the method of manufacturing the two color rotating particles, laminated coating fine pieces of two kinds of thermoplastic resin colored compositions are obtained by preparing an alkali soluble thermoplastic resin colored composition layer disposed on the full substrate surface, printing a resist ink composed of an alkali insoluble thermoplastic resin colored composition with a color different from that of the layer thereon, forming a plurality of fine patterns with coating thickness, areas and shapes mutually identical to one another and subsequently etching it with an aqueous alkali solution, and by heating them above softening temperature and ensphering them, the two color rotating particles consisting of the two kinds of the thermoplastic resin colored compositions with mutually different colors and electrostatic characteristics in a dielectric liquid integrally forming spherical shapes being in contact with each other via boundary surfaces are manufactured. The two color rotating particles obtained with the method also have high linearity of boundary lines separating the two colors. In the case they are used for a particle rotation type display device, high display quality can be obtained and consequently, they are used for the particle rotation type display.
